The use of switching diodes

The time from the cutoff (high resistance state) to the turn-on (low resistance state) of the switching diode is called the turn-on time; the time from the turn-on to the cut-off time is called the reverse recovery time; the sum of the two times is called the switching time. Generally, the reverse recovery time is greater than the turn-on time, so only the reverse recovery time is given on the use parameters of the switching diode. The switching speed of switching diodes is quite fast. For example, the reverse recovery time of silicon switching diodes is only a few nanoseconds, and even germanium switching diodes are only a few hundred nanoseconds.
The main characteristics of switching diodes are fast switching speed, small size and high reliability.
Widely used in switch circuit, detection circuit, high frequency and pulse rectifier circuit and automatic control circuit of electronic equipment.
