Another important function of Schottky diodes is voltage clamping. They can be used to limit or clamp the voltage in a circuit to a specific level, protecting sensitive components from overvoltage conditions. For example, in inductive load circuits, when the inductor is switched off, it can generate a high voltage spike that may damage other components. By connecting a Schottky diode across the inductor, the voltage spike is clamped to a safe level, ensuring the protection of the circuit.

In signal processing applications, Schottky diodes  serve as signal detectors and mixers. In RF systems, they can detect the presence of an RF signal and convert it into a usable DC voltage. Additionally, in mixer circuits, Schottky diodes  are used to combine two input signals to produce an output signal at a different frequency, which is essential for frequency conversion in communication systems.
