Power Supply Protection Circuit
In a typical power supply circuit, a
TVS diode is connected across the input terminals of the power supply. When a transient voltage surge occurs on the power line, the TVS quickly breaks down and conducts, diverting the surge current to the ground and limiting the voltage across the power supply input to a safe level. This protects the internal components of the power supply from damage.
Signal Line Protection
For signal lines such as data communication lines, a
TVS diode is connected between the signal line and the ground. When a transient voltage spike is induced on the signal line, the TVS rapidly clamps the voltage to a safe value, preventing the transient voltage from damaging the receiving circuit of the signal. This ensures the stability and reliability of signal transmission.
Maintenance and Testing
Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the appearance of the TVS for any signs of damage such as cracks, discoloration, or deformation. If any abnormalities are found, the TVS diode should be replaced in a timely manner.
Performance Testing: Use a specialized testing instrument to measure the key parameters of the TVS, such as VBR and leakage current. Compare the measured values with the datasheet values to determine whether the TVS is still in good working condition. If the parameters deviate significantly, the TVS diode needs to be replaced.
Environmental Consideration: Ensure that the TVS diode is used in an environment that meets its operating temperature and humidity requirements. Excessive temperature or humidity can affect the performance and service life of the TVS. Take appropriate measures to control the operating environment.
By following the above usage guidelines, the transient voltage suppressor diode can effectively protect the circuit from transient voltage surges and spikes, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the electronic equipment.
