3. Text marking

Sometimes the capacitance value and withstand voltage level are directly marked on the capacitor. For example, a capacitor may be labeled as "1uF 50V", indicating a capacitance value of 1 microfarad and a withstand voltage of 50 volts.diode

The method of reading capacitance is as follows:

Firstly, locate the markings on the capacitor.

Secondly, for numerical code labeling, interpret the first two digits and use the third digit as the index of the multiplier to calculate the capacitance value.diode

Then, for color code labeling, use a color code comparison table to determine the value and multiplier represented by each color ring, and then calculate the capacitance value.diode

Finally, for text labeling, directly read the capacitance value and withstand voltage level.

Notes:

The capacitance value may have a tolerance range, usually expressed as a percentage. For example, ± 5% indicates that the actual capacitance value may be between 95% and 105% of the nominal value.diode
