(3) When the second band is black, the color of the third band represents whole numbers, such as several, several tens, or several hundred kΩ, etc. This is a special case when reading the values and requires attention. For example, if the third band is red, the resistance value will be several kΩ.diode

(4) Remember the tolerance represented by the fourth band: gold for 5%, silver for 10%, and no color for 20%.

Here are some examples:

Example 1: When the four color bands are yellow, orange, red, and gold, the third band is red, indicating a resistance range of several kilo-ohms. Substituting the numbers "4" and "3" represented by yellow and orange respectively, the reading is 43 kΩ. The fourth band being gold indicates a tolerance of 5%.  Example 2: When the four color bands are brown, black, orange, and gold, the third band is orange, and the second band is black, indicating a resistance range of tens of kilo-ohms. Substituting the number "1" represented by brown, the reading is 10 kΩ. The fourth band being gold indicates a tolerance of 5%.diode
