Resistance strain gauge is a BQ2050HSN-A508 sensor used to measure surface strain of objects, which operates using the so-called strain effect. When a material undergoes deformation, its resistance changes, which can be detected by resistance strain gauges. Resistance strain gauges are typically made of a very thin metal foil or semiconductor material, which is precisely attached to an insulating support substrate. When the measured object undergoes deformation, the strain gauges attached to the surface of the object will also deform, resulting in a change in resistance.diode
The working principle of resistance strain gauges is based on a fundamental characteristic of resistance: the resistance value is related to the length, cross-sectional area, and properties of the material itself. According to Ohm's law (R=ρ L/A), where R is the resistance, ρ is the resistivity of the material, L is the length, and A is the cross-sectional area. When the strain gauge is stretched, its length increases and its cross-sectional area decreases, resulting in an increase in resistance. On the contrary, when the strain gauge is compressed, its length decreases, its cross-sectional area increases, and its resistance decreases. By measuring the change in resistance, the magnitude of the strain can be inferred.diode
