Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) is a Highly sensitive, selective, and high-resolution analytical instrument widely used in fields such as Earth Science, Environmental Science, and Biomedical Science. It ionizes the sample in high-temperature plasma and uses a mass spectrometer to detect and analyze the generated ions.
ICP-MS consists of four basic components: inductively coupled plasma generator, interface system, mass spectrometer, and DS485TM data acquisition system. In ICP, the plasma generated by inductive coupling can ionize atoms or molecules in the sample, forming charged particles. After acceleration, focusing, separation, and detection of these ions, corresponding mass spectrometry signals can be obtained, and various elements in the sample can be identified and quantitatively analyzed based on different mass to charge ratios.
The basic working principle of ICP-MS is to spray the sample to be analyzed into a plasma in the form of an aerosol.
