What is the difference between a Schottky diode and a general diode?

When the diode circuit fails, can I replace it with a Schottky diode? What is the difference between a Schottky diode and a normal diode?

Schottky diode, like conventional diodes, are unidirectional and reverse cut-off and can be used in rectifier circuits. General diodes are used for rectification in low-frequency circuits, and Schottky diodes are used in high-frequency circuits.

A Schottky diode also known as a Schottky barrier diode (SBD), is a low-power, ultra-high-speed semiconductor device. The most notable features are the extremely short reverse recovery time, which can be as small as a few nanoseconds, and the forward voltage drop of only about 0.4V.

The structural principle of Schottky rectifier tube is very different from PN junction rectifier tube, usually called PN junction rectifier tube as junction rectifier tube, and metal-semi-catheter rectifier tube is called Schottky rectifier tube.

Schottky diode are mostly used as high-frequency, low-voltage, high-current rectifier diodes, freewheeling diodes, protection diodes, and are also used as rectifier diodes and small-signal detection diodes in microwave communication and other circuits. It is more common in communication power supplies, frequency converters, etc.

The replacement of Schottky diode and general diodes has certain requirements for parameters and the environment, and the parameters need to be judged, and the specific need to refer to the diode specification, which can be tested with a multimeter when replaced.
