differences between ordinary diodes and Schottky diodes in electronic circuit applications

What are the differences between ordinary diodes and Schottky diodes in electronic circuit applications, and how should they be used correctly?

The difference is that ordinary diodes an withstand high voltage, but their recovery speed is low and can only be used for low-frequency rectification. If it is high-frequency, reverse leakage will occur due to the inability to quickly recover, ultimately leading to severe heating and burning of the tubes; The withstand voltage of Schottky diodes is often low, but their recovery speed is fast and can be used in high-frequency situations. Therefore, switching power supplies use this type of diode as the rectifier output. However, the temperature of the rectifier tube on the switching power supply is still very high.

Except for the model, there is generally no difference in appearance between ordinary diodes and Schottky diodes, but the difference can be measured by measuring the forward voltage drop. A digital multimeter can be directly used to measure (low current) that ordinary diodes are above 0.5V, Schottky diodess are below 0.3V, ordinary diodes are around 0.8V at high current, and Schottky diodes are below 0.5V; SR350 represents 3A50V. In addition, the withstand voltage of Schottky diodes is generally below 100V, and there are no diodes above 150V.
