How TVS transient suppression diodes are measured and judged

Transient Voltage Suppressor, abbreviated as TVS, is a high-efficiency protection device in the form of a diode. When the poles of the TVS diode are subjected to reverse transient high-energy impact, it can change the high impedance between its poles to low impedance at a speed of 10 to the negative 12th power of the second, absorb up to thousands of watts of surge power, and make the voltage clamp between the two poles at a predetermined value, effectively protecting the precision components in the electronic circuit from various surge pulses.

TVS transient suppression diodes measurement judgment:

1. Use a multimeter R&TImes;1k block to measure the quality of the diode

For the unipolar TVS diode, according to the method of measuring the ordinary diode, its forward and reverse resistance can be measured, generally the forward resistance is about 4K5, and the reverse resistance is infinity.

2. For the bidirectional polar TVS diode, the resistance value between the two pins should be infinity when the red and black pens are arbitrarily exchanged, otherwise, the diode has poor performance or has been damaged.

Methods for measuring the polarity of triacs:

1. Put the three-purpose meter in Rx1 gear, measure its three pins, as shown in the table, no matter how the red meter pen measures, the resistance between T1 and G is 20 to 50m, so the other pin is T2.

2. Put the three-purpose electricity meter in Rx1 gear, the test rods are connected to T2 and T1 of the thyristor, and then move away with a wire, then there is a low resistance between T2 and T1 (the thyristor has been triggered), and its resistance is R1.

3. Use three meters to measure T2 and G respectively, connect T2 and T1 with a wire and then move away, then there is a low resistance between T2 and G (thyristor has been triggered), let its resistance be R2, usually R1 is less than R2, then T1 and G two points can be distinguished.
