What are the common test methods for Schottky diode voltage drop?

What is the principle of voltage drop testing, and what is the difference between voltage drop and common misconceptions?

A common test method for  Schottky diode voltage drop

Constant current regulated DC current test: first give a small voltage so that there is a current through the Schottky diode, and then slowly increase the current to reach the rated current of the Schottky diode under test, and then read after the voltage value is stable, and the stable reading is the voltage drop of the rated current.

Why a stable voltage reading is the correct voltage drop reading: The impedance of a  Schottky diode is not fixed, but decreases with temperature (non-linear relationship).

When there is an electric current passing through the Schottky diode, the die will generate heat, and then dissipate it through the diode body, and when the thermal equilibrium is reached (the heat generated by the die can be dissipated in time), the impedance at this time is relatively stable, which is the law of conservation of energy (P=I2R, P is converted into heat). If you test directly with the rated current, the initial reading is high, because the die is at room temperature at this time, the impedance is the largest, and the reading will gradually decrease over time, because the impedance decreases with the increase of temperature.

Common misconceptions in Schottky diode voltage drop test methods

Some users are limited by the test instrument and directly use the multimeter to test, although the multimeter has this gear of the test diode, but its output current is only one or two milliamperes, the reading of the test is not "internal resistance", but the voltage drop when the current is milliampere, and the reading displayed when testing the voltage drop of each batch of Schottky diode in this way may deviate greatly, and the working current of  Schottky diode is usually amperere, and the difference between the two is a thousand times.
