Explanation
The DRV8805 provides an integrated solution for driving unipolar stepper motors. It includes four low-side drivers with overcurrent protection and built-in diodes to clamp the back-EMF transients generated by the motor windings.
The indexer logic controls a unipolar stepper motor with a simple step/direction interface also integrated. It supports three stepping modes: 2-phase (full-step), 1-2-phase (half-step), and 1-phase (wave drive).
In the SOIC (DW) package, the DRV8805 can provide a continuous output current of up to 1.5 A (one channel enabled) or 800 mA (all channels enabled) at 25°C. In the HTSSOP (PWP) package, it can deliver a continuous output current of up to 2 A (one channel enabled) or 1 A (all four channels enabled) at 25°C, provided the PCB has adequate heat dissipation.
It provides overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, undervoltage lockout, and internal shutdown for overheating, with faults indicated by the fault output pin. diode
The DRV8805 is available in a 20-pin thermally enhanced SOIC package and a 16-pin HTSSOP package (RoHS compliant and free of Sb/Br).
