Capacitive Touch Charge Transfer Lateral Mode Technology 1

Currently, resistive touch panels are inferior to capacitive touch panels in terms of light transmittance and finger position accuracy due to the limitations of their multi-layer material stack architecture. If capacitive touch panels adopt the lateral mode solution in charge transfer technology, they can further address issues such as noise and signal-to-noise ratio, thereby developing more advantageous capacitive touch screens.

Due to its fast response and intuitive operation, touchscreens are rapidly being adopted as user interfaces in various consumer electronics and industrial/commercial equipment such as ticketing systems.

At the technical level, touch screens were indeed feasible decades ago, but early technologies were not suitable for low-cost mass-market applications. These technologies included infrared systems and surface acoustic wave sensing systems. The infrared system uses an array of sensors arranged horizontally and vertically to detect whether a user's finger is near the screen surface by blocking modulated light beams. Meanwhile, surface acoustic wave sensors determine if a finger has touched the screen by detecting changes in sound waves, as the finger absorbs the waves when approaching the screen surface.  diode,

In addition to the aforementioned technologies, there are several other techniques. However, the current mainstream trends are resistive and capacitive sensing. Both technologies have their advantages, but the latest capacitive control ICs not only simplify single-touch applications but also enable multi-touch functionality that resistive sensing systems cannot achieve.

Resistive touch panels suffer from numerous drawbacks due to their structural limitations

Resistive touchscreens have broken free from the patent restrictions that have existed since the 1970s. The working principle of this technology is relatively simple: it consists of two layers of transparent resistive materials separated by tiny air gaps, typically indium tin oxide (ITO) deposited on plastic films and glass substrates. The upper layer is flexible, while the lower layer is rigid, with numerous fine transparent spacers isolating the two conductive layers (Figure 1). When a user presses their finger on the upper layer, a voltage gradient forms at the contact point, which the electronic control unit detects and calculates the X and Y coordinates accordingly.diode,
