A crankshaft sensor, also known as a crankshaft position sensor or crankshaft pulse sensor, is a device used to monitor the engine crankshaft speed and position. Its main function is to provide precise time reference signals for the engine control system, in order to perform combustion control at the appropriate time. The data from the crankshaft sensor directly affects the performance, efficiency, and emissions of the engine. In modern cars, it is a key component of the engine management system.diode

1、 Structure:

The crankshaft sensor is usually composed of a magneto electric sensor or a Hall effect sensor. A magneto electric sensor consists of magneto electric elements, coils, and permanent magnets. The Hall effect sensor consists of Hall elements, integrated circuits, and permanent magnets. These sensors will generate corresponding electrical signals based on the movement of the crankshaft.  diode

2、 Principle:

The working principle of crankshaft sensors mainly relies on the magneto electric effect. Magnetoelectric effect refers to the phenomenon where a conductor generates voltage at both ends when it moves in a magnetic field. The semiconductor probe in the crankshaft sensor utilizes this principle to convert magnetic field changes into electrical signals. When the crankshaft gear rotates, its magnetic field also changes accordingly, which is converted into an electrical signal through a semiconductor probe and then sent to the ECU for analysis.diode
