Schottky diode is a fast repair diode, which belongs to a power consumption, fast semiconductor component. Its obvious characteristic is that the reverse recovery time is very short (can be as small as a few nanoseconds), and the positive guidance pressure drop is only around 0.4V. Schottky diodes are mostly used as high frequency, bottom voltage, large current flow rectifier diodes, Flyback diode, maintenance diodes, and also effectively used as rectifier diodes and small data signal detection diodes in power circuits such as optical fiber communication. Commonly used in secondary switching power supply rectification and high-voltage power supply rectification of color televisions.

Schottky diodes use the metal semiconductor interface as the Schottky barrier to create the actual effect of rectification, which is different from the P-N interface created by the semiconductor semiconductor interface in general diodes. The characteristics of the Schottky barrier make the on/off current of the Schottky diode lower and can improve the conversion rate. The switching voltage of Schottky diode is very low. A typical diode produces a current of approximately 0.7 to 1.7 amperes when the current is passed through, but the current of Schottky diodes is only 0.15 to 0.45 amperes, which can improve the efficiency of system software.

Schottky diodes have advantages such as high switching frequency and reduced forward voltage, but their reverse breakdown field strength is relatively low, with most not exceeding 60V and only about 100V, which limits their application scope. For example, Flyback diode of output power switch components in power transformer (SMPS) and power factor calibration (PFC) power circuit, high frequency rectifier diode above 100V for transformer secondary coil, 600V-1.2mV high speed diode for RCD oil buffer power circuit and 600V diode for PFC voltage transformation, only rapid repair Extensionality diode (FRED) and ultra rapid repair diode (UFRD) are applied.

The characteristic of Schottky diodes is that the forward pressure drop VF is relatively small. Under the same electrical flow rate, its downstream pressure drop is much smaller. In addition, its repair time is relatively short. It is mostly used as rectifier diode with high frequency, bottom voltage and large current flow (such as power transformer secondary pole rectifier diode), Flyback diode, maintenance diode, and also effectively used as rectifier diode and small data signal detection diode in power circuits such as optical fiber communication. It is more common in power systems, soft starters, etc.
