ESD generated issues

 

There are two types of damage and potential damage caused by ESD (electrostatic discharge) to electronic products: sudden damage and potential damage. Sudden damage refers to the severe damage and loss of function of a device. This type of damage can usually be detected during quality inspection during the production process, so the main cost to the factory is the cost of rework and repair. Potential damage refers to the partial damage of the device, which has not yet lost its function, and cannot be detected during the production process inspection. However, during use, it can make the product unstable, sometimes good and sometimes bad, thus posing a greater threat to product quality. Among these two types of injuries, potential failures account for 90%, while sudden failures only account for 10%. That is to say, 90% of static damage cannot be detected and will only be detected when used by the user. The vast majority of problems with mobile phones, such as frequent crashes, automatic shutdowns, poor voice quality, loud noise, good and bad signal times, and button errors, are related to electrostatic damage. Due to this, electrostatic discharge is considered the biggest potential killer of electronic product quality, and electrostatic protection has also become an important aspect of electronic product quality control. The difference in stability between domestic and foreign brands when using mobile phones basically reflects their differences in electrostatic protection and product anti-static design
