How to detect and judge the electrode and channel type of Field-effect transistor

Identify transistor electrode and channel types

Place the multimeter in RX100 position, touch the pins assumed to be gate G with a black probe, and then touch the other two pins separately with a red probe. If the resistance values are relatively small (from a few hundred ohms to 1K Ω), measure them again with the red and black probes. If the resistance values are all large and belong to an N-channel transistor, and the pin touched by the black probe is gate G, it indicates that the original assumption is correct. It can also identify the P channel JFET.

transistor Since the source and drain of JFET are symmetrical in structure, they can generally be used interchangeably. Generally, the two electrodes need not be further distinguished. When measuring the resistance between source S and drain D with a multimeter, the forward and reverse resistance are the same, which is about several thousand ohms in normal conditions.
