The working principle of a fast recovery diodes in a circuit

The working principle of a  fast recovery diodes in a circuit is:

fast recovery diodes,When the GTO is on, the main current Io flows through the GT0. However, when the GTO implements gate shutdown, the current Io on the GTO is cut off. However, due to the presence of storage components such as inductors in the main circuit, the main current lo cannot decrease accordingly. In this case, the absorption capacitor should be charged through the absorption diode Ds, which allows the current to be absorbed by the absorption circuit, thereby reducing the rate of decrease of the main current Io and correspondingly reducing the generation of overcurrent, Enabling GTO to quickly turn off, increasing the capacitance value will improve the absorption effect, but it will increase the loss of the absorption circuit, so the absorption capacitance should be taken at an appropriate value. In summary, the function of the absorption diode Ds is to short-circuit Rs when the GTO component is turned off, accelerating the charging of Cs. However, during Cs discharge, Ds are in the reverse direction, and the discharge current flows through Rs, reducing the discharge current.

Due to the very large rate of current change, small inductances can cause significant overcurrent, so it is required to absorb capacitors and resistors without inductance. Moreover, the shorter the wiring between capacitors, resistors, and absorption diodes, fast recovery diodes, the better, in order to avoid reducing inductance.
