Positive and negative pole identification of voltage regulator diodes

Positive and negative pole identification of voltage regulator diodes

From the appearance, the positive end of the metal encapsulated voltage regulator diode body is planar, and the negative end is semicircular. One end of the plastic sealed voltage regulator diode with a color mark printed on it is the negative electrode, and the other end is the positive electrode. For voltage regulator diodeswith unclear markings, a multimeter can also be used to determine their polarity. The measurement method is the same as for ordinary diodes, that is, using a multimeter R × 1k gear, connect the two probes to the two electrodes of the voltage regulator diode, measure one result, and then adjust the two probes for measurement. In the two measurement results, the one with the smaller resistance value, the black lead is connected to the positive pole of the voltage regulator diode, and the red lead is connected to the negative pole of the voltage regulator diode. This refers to a pointer type multimeter. Due to the polarity issue between the battery used to measure the resistance range and the red and black probe used in the digital multimeter, the results of measuring the positive and negative poles of the diode are opposite to those of using a pointer multimeter. That is, the smaller the measurement result, the black probe is connected to the negative pole of the voltage regulator diode, and the red probe is connected to the positive pole of the voltage regulator diodes.
