What is the relationship between the current conduction voltage drop generated by the fast recovery diode in the circuit and the ambient temperature?

 

During our product development process, the impact of high and low temperature environments on fast recovery diode is the biggest obstacle to the stable operation of the product. The impact of environmental temperature on the vast majority of electronic components is undoubtedly enormous, and fast recovery diode are no exception. Through the measured data of the fast recovery diode in high and low temperature environments, the relationship curve between Table 1 and Figure 3 shows that the conduction voltage drop of the fast recovery diode is inversely proportional to the environmental temperature.

 

Although the maximum conduction voltage drop occurs at an ambient temperature of -45 , it does not affect the stability of the fast recovery diode. However, at an ambient temperature of 75 , if the shell temperature exceeds the 125 specified in the data manual, the fast recovery diode must be derated for use at 75 . This is also one of the factors why switching power supplies need to be derated for use at a certain high temperature point.
