Polarity judgment of diodes

The pins of a diode can be positive or negative, and they are connected incorrectly in the circuit. In light cases, they may not work properly, while in heavy cases, the components may be damaged. The polarity discrimination method is as follows:

1: Determine based on annotations or appearance.

Our diodes usually have a graphic indicating the polarity, and the positive and negative poles can also be identified from their appearance.

2: Use a pointer multimeter to determine polarity.

For diodes without obvious appearance characteristics, the polarity can be determined by the ohmic range of a pointer multimeter.

3: Use a digital multimeter to determine polarity.

A digital multimeter, like a pointer multimeter, also has an ohm range, but due to the different measurement principles between the two. It is not possible to determine the positive and negative poles of the diode, but the digital multimeter has a diode specific measurement range. This gear can be used to determine the polarity of the diode.
