What are the differences in the application of voltage regulator diodes and TVS diodes? Many engineers have this kind of confusion.

The application of voltage regulator diodes and TVS diodes is different. Voltage regulator diodes mainly play a stabilizing role in the circuit and need to be reversed to cause reverse breakdown. The voltage at both ends of the load will remain basically unchanged. The TVS diodes is a transient suppression diode. Its Electronic symbol is the same as that of the ordinary voltage stabilizing diode, and its shape is the same as that of the ordinary diode. When the two ends of the TVS diodes are subjected to an instantaneous high energy shock, it can suddenly reduce its impedance at a very high speed (up to 1/(10 ^ 12) second), absorb a large current, and clamp the voltage between its two ends to a predetermined value, This ensures that subsequent circuit components are not damaged by transient high-energy impacts.

Both Zener and Zener regulators can be used for voltage stabilization, but the Zener breakdown current is smaller, with only 1mA for voltage stabilization greater than 10V, which is relatively higher than the Zener diode breakdown current. However, Zener diodes can achieve higher voltage stabilization accuracy.
